Learning Challenge: TED ED On Not Sleeping
As we all pretty much know, being sleep deprived is a real thing and in order to function for day to day simple tasks we need rest. The TED-Ed video about "What Would Happen if You Didn't Sleep" by Claudia Aguirre was super interesting and taught me a lot more on the effects of not sleeping than I had already known! The examples she gave were crazy especially the one about the high schooler who conducted his own sleep deprived experiment as he did not sleep for 11 days and although he did not permanently have damage done to himself, through out the 11 days he began to lose basic function of his body. Not getting enough sleep can also result in dementia and strokes, I personally have family members who are fighting the loss of memory due to a stroke and I am curious if a lack of sleep could have played a part in this.

Somebody actually tested this out on their own body? That’s crazy to me! I’m also the person that insists on sleeping my eight hours every night, but still yet. I feel like lack of sleep may play a part in a lot more things than we think, including health problems. There’s got to be some reason why it’s stressed so much that we get enough sleep.
