Reading Notes: Peter Brook Mahabharata Pt. B

Once again we see crazy bad acting continue through out this film but that is besides the point now. I find it interesting that in the scene where the Pandu Brothers discuss one of them becoming King there is no arguing. they all agree on who it should be and their biggest worry are their cousins and uncle. Typically it would be the brothers who have the most disagreeing. Then when they meet with the King we finally see them break and not share the same ideas but Bhishma feels as though they can make the most of their new forrest. Draupadi has been married to the 5 brothers but has yet said a word...
The current King does not really seem to be able to make any decision for himself. Although a good leader looks to others for ideas and inout it does not seem as if he has any thoughts himself.

The Pandu brothers do come into contact with their weakness when they are challenged to a game of dice and begin to lose it all. Then the kingdom is put up for grabs when Bhishma pauses the game. The Pandu brothers wish to proceed and loses it all.

Then the Pandu brother betted so much they lost their wife Draupadi to be the other's servant. I honestly enjoyed this tale until this part where Draupadi was physically abused. I though the Indian culture was very respectful towards women and still is but this film hurt that.
